The Weather Channel brutally shut down climate change-denying bullsh*t from Breitbart.com in a video filled with so many burns that all the Arctic's melting sea ice couldn't cool them.

The saga began when the right-wing news site Breitbart published an article called “Global Temperature Plunge. Icy Silence From Climate Alarmists” last week. Largely based on a story by the Mail Online, the article was skewed in an attempt to push the idea that land temperatures have dropped since the middle of the year. By their logic, that meant all climate change is just a grand hoax by "lefties" and "the world’s alarmist community."

They topped the article with a Weather Channel video (since removed) featuring meteorologist Kait Parker in an attempt to back up their point.

Now, since you are currently on a science website and hopefully have an interest in science, we shouldn’t need to tell you that climate change is a fact. You'd be hard pushed to find any reputable climate scientist who would argue otherwise.

Nevertheless, the careful selection of facts and tin-foil hat tone of the article threw doubt on the validity of climate change, provided you didn't apply any critical thinking or wider research.

As you can imagine, the Weather Channel weren’t too pleased to be used by Breitbart. Especially since their video was actually talking about La Niña, the positive stage of the El Niño weather pattern. Drops in average sea surface temperatures in eastern and central parts of the Pacific between El Niño to La Niña is nothing strange at all.

In response, the Weather Channel released an article called “Note to Breitbart: Earth Is Not Cooling, Climate Change Is Real and Please Stop Using Our Video to Mislead Americans,” along with a video where Kait Parker gave a step-by-step breakdown of how the whole article was deceitful.

"Here's the thing, science doesn't care about your opinion. Cherry-picking and twisting the facts will not change the future nor the fact – note: fact, not opinion – that the Earth is warming," Parker said in the video. “To all my scientists out there: Let's make the facts louder than the opinions."
