Birk Mobius. A lightning bold appears to follow the curve of a rainbow almost perfectly

German photographer Birk Mobius was extraordinarily lucky to capture lightning and a rainbow following the same path at the same time.

The photograph was taken at Taucha aerodrome, Germany. Pictured is a lightning bolt striking a Boeing 777 just out of the field of view, which alone isn't that remarkable. Lightning hits planes quite often since they're big metal conductors traveling through lots of charged particles. Such events are actually seldom dangerous, as planes are Faraday cages carefully designed so that the wiring is not affected by electrical disturbances.
