The world could do with a laugh right now, and you’re no doubt missing the outside world more than a little bit, so what better way to kick away the coronavirus blues than with the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2020.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have released some of the funniest and most visually stunning images they have received so far for this year’s competition. There’s still plenty of time to enter your photograph into the competition with entries closing on June 30, 2020, at 23:00 UTC. Aside from pride and the title of 2020 Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year, top prizes also include a safari in Kenya’s Maasai Mara and some goodies from Nikon. For more information on how to enter, click here.
The competition, now in its 6th sixth year, was co-founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, two photographers from the UK with a passion for wildlife. While raising a few smiles is the primary focus of the awards, it also has a strong emphasis on conservation and hopes to promote the protection of wildlife.
“The planet has had a bit of a breather recently, because most of us have been in lockdown,” the organizers of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards said in a statement. “As a result, we have seen wildlife return and thrive in our rivers, oceans, lands, and skies. It is more important than ever before that we learn from this and make sure we do our best to conserve and look after this amazing planet of ours before it is too late.”
