French wildlife experts Anne-Marie and Xavier Hubert-Brierre captured the footage below of a group of chimpanzees watching their reflections in a mirror for the first time.
Filmed using motion-triggered cameras in the Nyonie forest of Gabon, the chimpanzees are seen initially sizing up their reflections, quietly watching their mirror-rivals. But soon the chimps became tired of monkeyin’ around.
The Hubert-Brierres probably weren’t expecting what happened next:
Xavier said to the Telegraph: "Some of the chimps quietly observe their reflection, but the younger, more immature animals start to scream and shout."
