The incident took place in Masaai Mara National Park, Kenya, when photographer Jerome Guillaumot stumbled across four lions and one feisty mongoose. While the fight for survival was filmed in 2011, the video was only recently released.

Mongooses are small mammals that live in burrows and feed on animals such as rodents, birds, reptiles, insects and worms. Some species also eat fruit, nuts and seeds. The most famous example of the audacity of mongooses is when they attack venomous cobras, but filming a mongoose fight a lion is exceptionally rare.
