Temperatures have plunged across the US this week, bringing snow and ice with it, especially in the northeast where the Falls straddle the border between Canada and New York.

As you can see in this video (or guess from how water works) the falls themselves have not actually frozen.

But nonetheless, enough of the surrounding area has been frozen over to make it look essentially like a Disney-esque winter wonderland. Enjoy some of the best photos people have been sharing of the spectacular scenery.

"Lots of magic happening in Niagara’s frozen wonderland right now!" Instagram user @woman.meets.world wrote, sharing one of the best photographs of the lot.

"There really is nothing like it; the powerful falls rushing over and everything surrounding them from the railings to the trees to the buildings, are coated in a thick layer of ice. If you have the chance to visit while it’s still freezing outside, make the effort because it’s well worth it. I think I love it even more during the winter than the warmer weather!"
