No matter how many times you’ve read Hawking’s books or watched the film "Interstellar," black holes are a notoriously tricky concept to get your mind around. So, who better to help you understand than Stephen Hawking himself?

This animation was crafted by Aardman Studios – the brains behind "Wallace and Gromit" and "Chicken Run" – who also revealed another Hawking animation last week.

Both short films have been released to promote Hawking’s Reith Lecturers for BBC Radio 4. If you live in the U.K., you’re lucky enough to listen to the first of his lectures on BBC iPlayer, here. The second will be available on Tuesday, February 2. If you don’t have access to iPlayer, then you can download the written transcript from the lecture right here.

In the meantime, enjoy the animation.
