This is another one of those videos that is so disgustingly mesmerizing that you can’t take your eyes off it, even though you might be sliding your sandwich slowly away from your mouth as you watch.
The clip from Ammonite Films shows a fly bursting out of its pupa, and you’ll see that quite a lot of effort is required by the little guy to break free from his case. After emerging, the fly scurried away to dry and unfold its new wings and also to harden its cuticle.
