Sightings of Nessie have been reported in Scotland’s Loch Ness for many years. But while spotting a giant sea monster in the remote Scottish Highlands might be a stretch of the imagination for many, the Internet is losing their minds over a reported sighting in London’s River Thames.

The video was caught by Penn Plate last week while on the Emirates Air Line, a cable car that travels along part of the River Thames. In true portrait-orientated, shaky-hands, viral video style, the clip shows a large object or animal peek out of the water for a few seconds.

What’s your bet: a quick city-break for Nessie? A neat little bit of CGI for an early April Fools' Day prank? A marine mammal?

While the idea of large animals lurking in the Thames might seem a bit odd, more than 2,000 seals, 49 whales, and around 450 porpoises and dolphins have been spotted in London’s famously grimy river over the past decade.
