The winners of The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2018 have been announced, with some hilarious entries as per usual.
In total, 41 finalists were chosen from thousands of entries in September 2018 across eight categories, including animals found under the sea, a people’s choice award, and an overall winner.
Mary McGowan scooped the overall prize, the Affinity People’s Choice Award, and the Alex Walker’s Serian Creatures of the Land Award with her image of a shocked squirrel, seen above.
She won a trip to a safari in Kenya, a handmade trophy from men and women in Tanzania with disabilities, and the title of Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2018. The other category winners will each be awarded a camera bag and a certificate.
Founded by wildlife photographers and enthusiasts Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks, the awards seek to not only show the funny side of the natural world but also highlight the importance of conserving our planet’s wildlife.
You can check out the winners in each category below, which are also detailed in a new book released alongside the awards.
