While passing the time, looking out of an airplane window, Nick O'Donoghue saw a pretty awesome sight – a part Michelin man, part Iron Giant, and part water vapor formation taking a lonely trek across the plains of clouds.

O'Donoghue, 30 from Ireland, captured the shot on a short-haul flight from Austria to London. After noticing the bizarre resemblance to a giant walking man, he got out his camera and took a photograph out of the window.

The image was first posted on Joe.ie and later resurfaced on Reddit.

Speaking to the Mail Online, the cloud spotter said: “I was flying back from a work ski trip in Austria, I was on the window seat with two work colleagues beside me.

“They were talking like crazy and I was gazing out the window, as you do. I could see this figure in the distance in front of us and then as we flew closer this shape appeared.

“I asked the ladies beside me to look at it too in case I was seeing things. They too were amazed! I then took some pictures and then the aircraft slowly passed it.”

Most commenters have rightly stated the lonely giant is simply a unique formation of clouds, perhaps pronounced from an industrial chimney or smokestack.
