Huge Solar Storm Produces Spectacular Northern Lights

Members of the Slooh expedition team have been busy bees this week, setting off to capture a live feed of the Northern Lights on Tuesday and also the total solar eclipse tomorrow from the Faroe Islands. Of course, we’re very grateful to them for bringing us some jaw-dropping footage, and we can’t wait for the big event tomorrow. But in the meantime, if you didn’t manage to catch a glimpse of the awesome live video of the Icelandic aurora, here are some highlights that Slooh has kindly put together:

As you can see, there was an awful lot of activity going on in the sky, which was thanks to an intense geomagnetic storm. What better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s day than with a vibrant splash of shocking green emblazoned across the skies?
