Even the healthiest of people can get breathless after a bit of exercise. But if you’re finding yourself out of breath more than you'd expect, it could be an early sign that something's not right with your health. Breathlessness can be an indication of serious and life-threatening health problems, such as lung cancer, lung disease, and heart disease. Fortunately, there’s a simple way you can check if your lungs are in tip-top shape or whether you should pay your doctor a visit.

The British Lung Foundation has created a 10-step test which you can take online in less than fives minutes. All the answers will remain confidential, it simply asks basic questions about your age, height, weight, lifestyle, and how much you exercise.

Once you have answered the questions, it will then give you a short report on what action you need to take. This can vary from just maintaining your health or exercising more to paying your doctor a visit. The test can highlight issues that you might not have been aware of, but it's always best to seek professional medical attention if you're still unsure or concerned about any aspect of your health.

It’s all very easy and it could save your life.

Head over to the British Lung Foundation website to take the test.
