What is the fate of the universe? While no one knows for certain, many scientists have formed hypotheses directed at this very question. The three most widely agreed upon are the Big Rip, the Big Freeze, and the Big Crunch. Each of these scenarios depend on dark energy—that mysterious force that scientists are still grappling to comprehend.
