Do you notice anything strange in the images below? No? Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
At first glance, the images look normal. Look a bit closer, however, and you might notice that the two streets appear to be at a slightly different angle to one another.
The kicker? They’re exactly the same image, repeated next to each other. There are no differences at all. Yes, we know. Your mind is blown.
“This is super weird. I can tell that it's the same picture, but something makes my brain not want to believe it,” user Saberfox11 wrote on Reddit, where the image was posted.
“For me it looks like the roads are going in different directions, like one road forking off,” jerry disco wrote. “It’s hard to believe the two streets are actually parallel.”
One person explained that the illusion is possibly caused by the two streets coming together at the bottom. As such, your brain thinks it is one image and so the picture on the left must be at an angle. But it’s not.
This optical illusion seems to be related to the famous Café Wall illusion, where parallel lines appear to be at an angle. Whatever the cause, well, it’s certainly pretty odd.
