A coffee-related brainteaser posted on Twitter has left quite a few people stumped – but the answer is fairly simple once you look at it.

Each leads to a different coffee cup that’s numbered. The question asks, which coffee cup will get filled first?
Here’s the puzzle in question. Can you work out the answer?
Plenty of people then had a go at trying to solve it, with varying success. We’ll post the solution below, but have a guess first.
If you’re stumped, fear not. The answer is that only cup number 5 will fill. The reason is that if you look at the other pipes, you’ll see that they’re blocked off.
One smart-alec user on Twitter did point out, though, that cups 4, 7, and 9 will fill in that order once the coffee level on the floor starts rising – presuming you have an infinite supply of coffee.
