Holidays are becoming too commercial, it's true. However, it’s good to see that some traditions never change, such as people enjoying some festivity-related porn searches. It was May the Fourth (Star Wars Day) last Friday, and many celebrated such a blessed day by, in Luke’s own words, keeping "it on manual control for a while.”

To give an insight into the porn habits of the Jedi and Sith of our galaxy, Pornhub has released its Star Wars-related data. On May 4, 2017, the website registered an increase of 1,043 percent in Star Wars-related searches compared to the daily average. Yoda is wrong – size appears to matter. And we can totally judge.

Among the searched terms that had a surge, we find various iterations of the franchise title plus words such as "sex", "lesbian", "porn", "anal", "xxx", and "parody". "Princess Leia" and "Princess Leia" slave also received a boost. Surprisingly, the search term that got the biggest boost was "lightsaber", with a whopping 766 percent increase above the daily average. Clearly, the phallic metaphor of the lightsabers persists.

"Star whores" also increased in popularity on the day, although if the IMDB description is anything to go by, it seems more like a parody of Star Trek Voyager rather than Star Wars. Otherwise, why call a droid "Six-of-Niner" when you should have gone for "C3P-Blow" or "R2-DoMe?"

For the first four months of 2018, "Princess Leia" remained the most searched Star Wars-related term, with "SW Parody" and "SW XXX" trailing behind. After Leia, the most searched characters are "Rey", "Ahsoka Tano" from Clone Wars, "Padme", and "Sabine" from Star Wars Rebels. So, pretty much all the leading women in the extended franchise. "Kylo Ren" also makes an appearance.

The website points out how the burst in related search terms is not exclusive to May the Fourth. When each of the last three movies was released, Pornhub witnessed a surge in searches that remained high for days afterward.

In the end, we can’t be surprised at the carnal interest that such a decade-spanning franchise arises. And let’s not forget that the movies have given us quotes like “Hey Luke, thanks for coming after me – now I owe you one,” “It didn't go in... it just impacted on the surface,” and my all-time favorite, “You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought.” So, Star Wars literally had it coming.
