It is official – Japan has accepted the U.S.’s challenge of an epic robot battle. Let the wars begin!

U.S.-based robot company MegaBots threw down the gauntlet last week to its Japanese competition Suidobashi Heavy Industry for their respective robots to duke it out in an all-out clash.

In the MegaBots video, the combative announcement was delivered with Japanese subtitles, accompanied by proud American fanfare and flags.

The comeback was delivered with fantastically reciprocated humor. Suidobashi CEO Kogoro Kurata remarks that while Megabot’s contestant is interesting, “building something huge and sticking guns on it [is] super American.”

There aren’t yet any specific details of when or where this clash of the robot titans will actually happen from either MegaBots or Suidobashi. If it does take place, my money’s on Japan. As Kurata states, “Giant robots are Japanese culture.”
