It’s the news we have all been waiting for: jetpacks will be going on sale to the public late next year.
You’ll finally be able to soar to school, wing your way to work and descend upon your mortal enemies with a state-of-the-art Martin Jetpack.
First flown in public in 2008, the Martin Jetpack isn’t technically the type of jetpack with which we’re all very familiar from TV and movies. It's powered by a V4 200 horsepower engine, which drives two ducted fans to achieve speeds of about 74 kilometers per hour (about 46 mph). Flight could be sustained for up to 20 minutes at a height of 1,000 meters (3280 feet).
This invention will be highly useful for first response emergency services, according to its creators. But if you’re looking to use the Martin Jetpack for fun, you’d best start saving up: the jetpack is priced at between $150,000 and $200,000 (£95,374 and £127,124).
