Time Crystal Created In Prototype Quantum Computer
A regular crystal is a collection of particles with a precise space structure that repeats itself. A time crystal is just like that but the structure doesn’t repeat in space – It repeats in time. They have been observed only recently, and there is still much we don’t about them. This latest approach uses Google’s Sycamore quantum computing hardware to actually create a time crystal.
200,000-Year-Old Denisovan Fossils Are Oldest Ever Discovered
Researchers have uncovered the oldest fossils belonging to the enigmatic Denisovans, an ancient hominin lineage thought to be closely related to modern humans. Prior to this discovery, the oldest known Denisovan remains were dated to between 122,000 and 194,000 years old. The bone fragments were found in a layer of sediment also containing butchered animal remains and stone tools, providing a glimpse into the lifestyles of our long-extinct ancestors.
Moderna VS Pfizer: New Study Names The Most Effective COVID-19 Vaccine
Using electronic records from US veterans, researchers determined whether Moderna or Pfizer came out on top when it came to preventing COVID-19 and reducing the likelihood of hospitalization or death. The good news is that both vaccines are very good at their job, and on a personal scale it’s wise to recommend both equally. However, Moderna beat Pfizer with lower rates of documented COVID-19 infection and hospitalization.
Much Of Earth’s Water Probably Comes From The Solar Wind, Study Suggests
Researchers have proposed that hydrogen reacted with oxygen at the surface of inner solar system asteroids, producing an exceptionally thin but water-rich layer. When these materials arrived on Earth, they brought their water with them. The authors calculate between 56 and 72 percent of the Earth’s water is from this previously overlooked source. Other objects in the inner Solar System must have been exposed to the same rain of water-rich dust, the authors say.
US Is World's Worst Plastic Polluter, Generating More Than The Whole EU
“In 2016, the United States was the top generator of plastic waste,” reads a new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The report found the USA was responsible for “an estimated 42 [million metric tons]” of plastic waste in 2016 – that’s more than double almost any other country on the planet, and more than the entire 28 countries of the European Union combined.

The Medieval Monarch Who Ate So Many Lampreys He Died
In a tale that reads like a fable for taking heed of medical advice, King Henry I made the unfortunate decision to keep eating an unusual gooey fish despite the fact that he got sick every time he did. Eventually, the fleshy, fishy hill he chose to die on took his life.
