ALL of these positions are based in our Covent Garden office. We are not currently advertising for remote positions. The salary for each is negotiable, and will strongly depend on the experience and qualifications you bring to the table.

HEALTH WRITER

We're looking for an experienced science writer, who will focus on medical and health subjects. This doesn't mean that's all you'll be writing about, not by a long shot. One of the great things about IFLScience is that one day you can be writing about drug interactions, and the next day it can be outer space. However, we are looking for someone who has the experience and expertise necessary to cover complex health studies, and explain them to a general audience.

This role is full time, and will be based in our Covent Garden office. Remote applicants cannot be considered for this position.

WEEKEND/FLEXIBLE WRITER

We're looking for a general science writer. This is a full-time position, but the hours and days may vary. We're specifically looking for someone to keep the site running during the weekend, and to cover staff vacation days during the week. We're flexible to your needs, and you'll be able to change which days you work during the week depending on your schedule.

As you'll often be working days when most of our staff won't, you'll need to be comfortable covering a large variety of stories. You'll also need to be very motivated, and capable of thinking for yourself. You'll have a large amount of freedom with regards to your schedule and tasks.

Saturdays and Sundays will be spent working from home, and weekdays will be based in our Covent Garden office. Remote applicants cannot be considered for this position.

This role will vary greatly from day to day. You may spend your time writing short articles, republishing content from our partners, transcribing interviews, and writing "listicle" type articles.

We believe in promoting from within, and other editorial assistants have gone on to become writers and editors at IFLScience.

You don't need a science degree, but you do need to be passionately interested in the topic and comfortable writing about a wide variety of subjects. If you devour David Attenborough documentaries and love talking about CERN's latest findings, you'll fit right in. You don't have to understand everything (no one does), but you should be interested and excited to learn.

  • Journalism experience. Can be degree or practical.
  • Passionate about science.
