Of what we could have expected of 2020, it certainly did not disappoint, not going out without leaving a mysterious sighting of an unexplained flying object, otherwise known as a UFO

On December 29, 2020, at around 8:30 pm local time, multiple people noticed an oblong UFO with a blue haze hovering over Oahu, Hawaii.

One of the first witnesses of the sighting, a woman named Moriah, spoke with Hawaii News Now, “I look up and then I was like oh s***!” she told the station. “I started calling my husband and them because they were all in the garage. I was like hey. Come look up there. See if you see what I see. They all said yea[h]!”

Moriah described the UFO as being longer than a telephone pole and said that it was not making any sound.

In a video released by Hawaii News Now, a woman can also be heard saying, “Something is in the sky. What is that?”

Due to multiple different sightings of the unexplained UFO in the area, law enforcement officers in Oahu notified the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for comment.

"Law enforcement contacted the Federal Aviation Administration the night of Tuesday, Dec. 29, about a witness report of a possible plane down in that area," FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor told USA TODAY. "We followed up on the report but had no aircraft disappear off radars, and we had no reports of overdue or missing aircraft."

Although the sighting still remains a real mystery, as the FAA did not have any knowledge of missing aircraft in the area, some internet fact checkers proposed some possible explanation for the mystery UFO.

According to ufoofinterest, there are eerie similarities between the UFO of interest and, wait for it, LED kites.

Although some astronomers think aliens might be out there, UFO sightings are normally not persuasive at all. They usually turn out to be something obvious, or something that someone at the time of sighting just could not explain from their subjective position.

But to not disappoint with the fact that this sighting was only a potential LED kite, earlier in 2020 the Pentagon released three declassified UFO videos that also portrayed strange unexplained sightings. "The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified.’" they said in a released statement back then. So UFO enthusiasts, enjoy them.

We can certainly confirm that 2020 did not disappoint with a little UFO mystery at the end, and although it is very unlikely to have been aliens – which is normally the case with all UFO sightings – who knows what 2021 will bring.
