A bayou in Assumption Parish, Louisiana experienced a massive sinkhole after salt mines collapsed in the summer of 2013. The sinkhole did an estimated $12 million worth of damage to the surrounding area. The power of the sinkhole can be seen as it completely swallows up these 40-foot-tall Cypress trees:
