SciFri/Youtube

This video tells the incredible story of the last hours of Dr. Karl P. Schmidt, famed snake expert, just after he had been bitten by a boomslang snake (Dispholidus typus). Knowing he was dying, he dedicated his last dying day to create scientific account of his death.

The short film was produced by SciFri and shows the excerpts from the report which the press referred to as “the death diaries.”

Schmidt died just 24 hours after the bite with massive bleeding from his eyes, kidneys, lungs, heart and brain. Did he underestimate the venom’s effects? Could he just not get his hands on any boomslang antivenom? Or was his death a martyrdom to knowledge?

Check out the unbelievable story below.
