It seems that all humans have an obession with the weather (not just the British). As testament to how much weather can influence our emotions, a study last year found that 7 percent of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time were about the weather. And that’s for good reason; being mesmerized by meteorology is steeped in our evolutionary biology and psychology.

But there’s much more to it than feeling happy when the Sun is on your face and glum when it’s cold outside. This infographic from GB Energy Supply shows how differences in weather and climate conditions can affect everything from our generosity to how risky we feel when we’re gambling.
